Garissa University college to reopen months after closure due to terror attack


Depute president William Ruto has today said that Garissa University College will be reopened after a meeting of top education officials and Moi University Senate that will be held in the next two weeks.
Ruto said Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi will meet Moi university's top management to make a plan of reopening the institution.
Garissa University College : a constituent of Moi University  was closed in April following a terror
attack that killed 147 students.
“Moi University Senate and CS Education will meet in
the next two weeks to agree on the date of opening the institution,” said Mr Ruto after a tour of the institution.
 The Deputy President said education of Kenyans could not be
compromised by acts of lawlessness when he was addressing
Garissa university staff.
“We will not allow evil to prevail. We will ashame those who attacked and killed innocent student”, said Mr
Ruto.
