Activist Okiya Omtata moves to court in a bid to remove Mugenda: Kenyatta university's VC from office.

Omtata filled the case on the industrial and labour relations court
Omtata
last week to push for Mugenda's retirement on grounds that she has completed her term and should vacate office.
Records indicate that Mugenda Olva was appointed the Kenyatta university's vice chancellor in 2007. She was reaponted in 2012 by former President Mwai Kibaki in his reign in office.
Papers presented by Omtata before Nairobi justice Wasilwa Hellen indicate that the ministry of education has failed to advertise her position or send her home for six months as required to facilitate her vacate from office.
The universities charter indicate that Mugenda's term should end on March 2016.Omtata has fear that six months to the end of her term, there is no advert on media announcing the vacancy. This forced Omtata to seek legal action which failed at the industrial court.
There is fear that Mugenda is keen on extending her term through unacceptable means .
The university's Act in article 39 says: The VC of a university shall be appointed and is only legible for two five year terms in office.
